Artist Statement
Enya MacManus is a British artist exploring trauma and PTSD. using a variety of mediums; textiles, acrylic paint, oil paint, gel plate printing, photographs, oil pastels and zines; MacManus' work invites the audience into domestic environments built up on her memories of childhood. MacManus' works are about process as much as result, she describes her work as a form of therapy, where she has fun with materials. to be seen in her work due to be exhibited this year (2023); 'feeding myself love'; MacManus provides insight into her childhood and inner child that she claims everybody has. MacManus' practice focuses on traumas of childhood abandonment and childhood sexual abuse. she began using her artwork as therapy in her early teens focusing majorly on areas that she could not process with words alone. MacManus describes her childhood as isolating and traumatic, this can be seen within her works.
